About the film
When Swedish-born architect and designer Greta Magnusson Grossman immigrated to California in 1940, her goal was modest: “To get a car and a pair of shorts.” What she got was so much more. Over the next two decades, Grossman became the first independent female architect in Los Angeles. Opened her own Rodeo Drive studio. Designed 14 iconic California homes. Designed furniture, rugs, lamps, and other home furnishings for leading midcentury design firms. Counted Frank Sinatra and Greta Garbo among her celebrity clients. And then she disappeared into obscurity.
